Su padre, su hermano y ella ten\u00edan un peque\u00f1o puesto donde vend\u00edan f\u00f3siles locales a los turistas. Era trabajo honesto y al vivir cerca de acantilados marinos que datan del Jur\u00e1sico, no era tan dif\u00edcil encontrar piezas que le interesaran a los coleccionistas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A sus 12 a\u00f1os ella y su hermano (que ten\u00eda 15) encontraron el esqueleto de un gran reptil que se parec\u00eda a un pez y William Bullock del Museo de Historia Natural de Londres lo compr\u00f3 con gusto al a\u00f1o siguiente, 1812. Este fue el primer ictiosaurio en descrito.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Su talento para encontrar f\u00f3siles creci\u00f3 a lo largo de los a\u00f1os. Aprendi\u00f3 tanto de la materia como los mejores naturalistas de su tiempo, forj\u00f3 amistad con muchos de ellos, era reconocida y respetada en su campo\u2026 Pero su condici\u00f3n de mujer le impidi\u00f3 tener acceso a estudios universitarios, realizar publicaciones propias o formar parte de la prestigiosa Sociedad Geol\u00f3gica de Londres.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anning falleci\u00f3 a los 47 a\u00f1os a causa del c\u00e1ncer de mama. En su memoria, varios colegas compraron un vitral que fue colocado en la iglesia de San Miguel Arc\u00e1ngel en Lyme Regis.
