Sof\u00eda Margarita Provencio O\u2019Donoghue ofrecer\u00e1 hoy a las 16:030 horas la charla Juan O\u2019Gorman y la muerte, en el Museo Casa Estudio Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo (MCEDRyFK).<\/span><\/p>\n

La actividad se realizar\u00e1 en el marco de la ofrenda colaborativa que presentan el MCEDRyFK y el Museo Dolores Olmedo, la cual rinde tributo al arquitecto Juan O\u2019Gorman, con motivo del 120 aniversario de su nacimiento.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sof\u00eda Margarita hablar\u00e1 de la visi\u00f3n de la muerte en la obra y pensamiento de Juan O\u2019Gorman, una de las figuras m\u00e1s importantes de la arquitectura mexicana.<\/span><\/p>\n

Se charlar\u00e1 sobre la po\u00e9tica de la muerte desde el arte, la historia y la espiritualidad, inspirada en la fuerza creativa de Juan O\u2019Gorman y en las alegor\u00edas que explor\u00f3 a lo largo de su vida.<\/span><\/p>\n

Juan O\u2019Gorman naci\u00f3 en Coyoac\u00e1n, Ciudad de M\u00e9xico, el 6 de julio de 1905. Realiz\u00f3 sus estudios en la Escuela Nacional de Arquitectura y trabaj\u00f3 en la oficina del arquitecto Carlos Obreg\u00f3n Santacilia, uno de los primeros arquitectos modernistas de M\u00e9xico. Su obra fue influenciada por Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright y la arquitectura org\u00e1nica.<\/span><\/p>\n

En 1929 construy\u00f3 la primera casa funcionalista de M\u00e9xico en San \u00c1ngel; dos a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s comenz\u00f3 la construcci\u00f3n de la casa-estudio que habitaron Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo. Fue profesor en el Instituto Polit\u00e9cnico Nacional (IPN) y particip\u00f3 en grandes proyectos como el edificio del Banco de M\u00e9xico y el dise\u00f1o y construcci\u00f3n de 26 escuelas primarias en la Ciudad de M\u00e9xico.<\/span><\/p>\n

Introdujo el funcionalismo en la arquitectura mexicana y su obra pict\u00f3rica m\u00e1s famosa son los murales del edificio de la Biblioteca Central de Ciudad Universitaria. Su legado arquitect\u00f3nico y pict\u00f3rico ayud\u00f3 a definir la arquitectura mexicana del siglo XX.<\/span><\/p>\n
