El presidente municipal de Uruapan, Carlos Alberto Manzo Rodr\u00edguez, fue asesinado por impactos de bala el 1 de noviembre durante un acto p\u00fablico con motivo del Festival de las Velas, en el centro hist\u00f3rico de la ciudad.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

De acuerdo con reportes oficiales, el agresor fue identificado como Osvaldo Guti\u00e9rrez V\u00e1zquez \u201cEl Cuate\u201d, originario de Apatzing\u00e1n, relacionado con el C\u00e1rtel Jalisco Nueva Generaci\u00f3n (CJNG).<\/span><\/p>\n

Carlos Manzo, de 40 a\u00f1os, era conocido por su discurso contra la delincuencia y su pol\u00edtica de \u201cmano dura\u201d en materia de seguridad. Electo como candidato independiente, asumi\u00f3 la alcald\u00eda en septiembre de 2024 tras una campa\u00f1a en la que prometi\u00f3 devolver la paz a uno de los municipios m\u00e1s violentos de Michoac\u00e1n.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Manzo denunci\u00f3 la presencia de grupos armados en comunidades cercanas y exigi\u00f3 al gobierno federal y al Ej\u00e9rcito reforzar la vigilancia en la regi\u00f3n.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

El atentado contra Manzo ha provocado conmoci\u00f3n a nivel nacional. Los habitantes de Uruapan y organizaciones realizaron manifestaciones y vigilias en honor al alcalde, ya que exigen justicia y mayor protecci\u00f3n para los servidores p\u00fablicos que enfrentan amenazas.<\/span><\/p>\n
