Guillermo Jaimes,<\/strong> investigador y acad\u00e9mico, dar\u00e1 la conferencia <\/span>La ilustraci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica en Velasco<\/i><\/strong> el pr\u00f3ximo 20 de noviembre a las 17 horas, en el Auditorio Adolfo Best Maugard del Museo Nacional de Arte (MUNAL).<\/span><\/p>\n

La ponencia se centra en una de las facetas menos conocidas de Velasco: ilustrador de temas cient\u00edficos, ya que fue un creador interdisciplinario con un inter\u00e9s particular en utilizar sus herramientas pict\u00f3ricas en di\u00e1logo con las ciencias\u201d, se\u00f1al\u00f3 Jaimes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Velasco elabor\u00f3 ilustraciones para la Sociedad Mexicana de Historia Natural, desarroll\u00f3 estudios bot\u00e1nicos y concibi\u00f3 un ambicioso proyecto para representar la flora del Valle de M\u00e9xico. Aunque este no alcanz\u00f3 la magnitud que \u00e9l deseaba, produjo 18 litograf\u00edas dedicadas al tema.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jaimes record\u00f3 que el artista vivi\u00f3 una \u00e9poca de grandes descubrimientos, como la teor\u00eda de la evoluci\u00f3n de Darwin, los avances en f\u00edsica y la consolidaci\u00f3n de la geolog\u00eda. \u201cEl inter\u00e9s de Velasco surge de ah\u00ed: no podemos separar al artista de la ciencia que lo rodeaba\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n
